Spontaneous regression and recurrence in a case of nodular fasciitis.

چکیده
Sir. Nodular fasciitis is a sporadic tumor that results from a benign proliferation of myofibroblasts in soft tissues. It presents clinically as a rapidly-growing firm nodule, most often localized in the subcutaneous tissue (1). While it may arise in any part ofthe body, there is a predilection for the upper extremities, especially the forearms (1-3). Nodular fasciitis occurs most commonly in younger adults, affecting males and females with equal frequency (2—4). Histologie diagnosis of these rapidly growing lesions can be difficult owing to their dense cellularity and high mitotic activity; features shared with some sarcomas (2,5,6). Standard care consists of complete excision, and local recurrences occur very rarely (1-3). Spontaneous regression of nodular fasciitis has been reported, but there are only a few cases documented in the literature, and most often regression followed biopsy or incomplete excision ofthe lesion (7, 8). We describe here an unusual case of nodular fasciitis that regressed spontaneously and recurred after a 5-year interval.

Nodular Fasciitis of the Auricle: A Case Report
Introduction: Nodular fasciitis is described as a benign reactive proliferation of myofibroblasts. Due to its rapid-growing nature, a precise clinical diagnosis is difficult and the condition is frequently misdiagnosed as malignant lesions. Case Report: In this study, we present the case of a young woman with an auricular nodular fasciitis as an example of one of the rarest sites of this tumo...
متن کاملNodular fasciitis in the axillary tail of the breast.
Nodular fasciitis is a benign proliferation of myofibroblasts which presents clinically as a rapidly growing mass with nonspecific features on imaging and high cellular activity on histopathology. Nodular fasciitis can be mistaken for malignant fibrous lesions such as soft tissue sarcoma or breast carcinoma when located within breast tissue. This presents a problem for appropriate treatment pla...
متن کاملTreatment of Nodular Fasciitis Occurring on the Face.
BACKGROUND Surgical excision is generally recommended for the treatment of nodular fasciitis (NF) to rule out sarcoma. However, in cases of NF occurring on the face, the reported recurrence rate is higher and the surgical approach may result in considerable aesthetic concern. OBJECTIVE To describe our experience with NF occurring on the face and evaluate the outcomes of surgical and nonsurgic...
متن کاملEpibulbar Nodular Fasciitis
PURPOSE To report a case of epibulbar nodular fasciitis in a 32-year-old female and provide context by reviewing the current literature. RESULTS Using excisional biopsy, the patient was successfully diagnosed and treated for epibulbar nodular fasciitis. Upon follow-up, there has been no recurrence, consistent with the typical course for nodular fasciitis. CONCLUSIONS Epibulbar nodular fasci...
متن کاملSpinal Seeding of Cerebellar Pilocytic Astrocytoma and Spontaneous Regression of Tumor: a Case Report
Cerebellar pilocytic Astrocytoma is a benign tumor, acounts for 80% of all cerebellar Astrocytoma, and has a relatively good prognosis. This tumor usually presents with Ataxia and in the case of hydrocephaly with raised intracranial pressure signs such as headeach, and vomiting. Treatment of this tumor is complete resection and if hydrocephally is present V.P. shunt should be inserted. In the c...
